A fever dream in sonic form, this is the first album St. Paul & The Broken Bones recorded in their hometown of Birmingham. Produced by Matt Ross-Spang, the band's fourth full-length is a dizzying convergence of rock n: roll, R&B, psychedelia, stoner metal, gospel, and jazz-funk. At turns explosive, elegant, and thrillingly unhinged, it makes for a majestic backdrop to the group's visceral exploration of the strangest dimensions of the human psyche.

It is one of the tragic losses of music history that not a single note of Johann Sebastian Bach's St. Mark Passion is of certain transmission. Attempts to reconstruct it have usually not advanced beyond the halfway point, but Andreas Fischer has now carried this task through to completion. Together with an agile quintet of soloists, the St. Catharinen-Cantorey performs at its best and produces a most highly welcome addition to the repertoire with this unexpected recording premiere.

Live recordings from 1968 and 1970 have recently been discovered of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. Not much is known about the live recordings. Discovered unlabelled and by pure luck in the US, their era has been authenticated by experts of the bands blues origins. Fleetwood Mac has given their full approval for the release of these tapes. Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac had a short but hugely prolific career, with the 1968 recording being at the early stages of the band, and the 1970 recording will, in contrast, be one of their final shows before Peter left the band. The recordings were discovered in incredibly good condition considering they have been untouched for over 40 years, they have been restored and provide a vital insight into the very earliest incarnation of one of the world’s biggest bands.

Bill and Bonnie shared these songs with a travel-challenged world from fall 2020 through Spring 2021; now their online sensation comes home to roost on the good ol' fashioned format in which all these songs were originally heard in the first place! Long an object of fascination, the Knights Templar left behind few documents related to the musical activities of their Order. Nevertheless, with the drive of a keen archaeologist, Marcel Pérès and his Ensemble Organum were able to reconstruct the oldest of the sources: a rare manuscript dating from the middle of the twelfth century and originating at the basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the site at which the rituals of the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller initially took shape.

Gottfried Zimmermann opened his famous coffee house in Leipzig in 1715 and organised concerts there. Around 1735, Bach composed his famous cantata ‘Schweigt still, plaudert nicht’, which was probably performed there. It depicts the humorous dispute between a father and his daughter over her consumption of coffee. In Paris, Nicolas Bernier’s cantata Le Caffé (1664-1734) praised the beverage and its many virtues. The ‘Coffee Road’ Olivier Fortin has mapped out here makes a detour to London around 1660, where the composer Matthew Locke frequented the Turk’s Head Coffee House and promoted a string fantasia. Fortin has chosen to organise this album like a fasil, a ‘suite of pieces’ in traditional Ottoman music, with taqsims (improvisations) interspersed among the compositions and played on such instruments as the ney flute, the Arab violin and the yayli tanbur.

A Place to Bury Strangers defund post-punk orthodoxy with the most audacious and varied songwriting of their career on their sixth album on Oliver Ackermann's label, Dedstrange. Following up on 2021s highly acclaimed Hologram EP, the rebooted lineup' vocalist/guitarist Oliver Ackermann plus drummer/vocalist Sandra Fedowitz and bassist John Fedowitz (both of Ceremony East Coast) delivers an overclocked set of futuristic electronic punk music encoded with punishing industrial rhythms, swirling voltage-starved guitars and unclassifiable auditory annihilation. Across thirteen tracks recorded in seclusion throughout the nihilistic absurdity of the coronavirus pandemic, this is proof-positive that the group hailed as 'The Loudest Band in New York' is still finding new ways to push the needle deeper in the red.

Recorded following Bowie's triumphant Glastonbury 2000 performance. Bowie entered the studio with his band, Mark Plati, Sterling Campbell, Gail Ann Dorsey, Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Holly Palmer and Emm Gryner, to record new interpretations of songs he'd first recorded from 1964-1971.
