(1930-2020) Santa Fe millionaire, collector, and art dealer who said that he in 2010 hid a chest of treasure, including gold coins, figurines, and other valuable artifacts, in a location north of Santa Fe. The clues to the location of the treasure (later reported found) are featured in his book, Thrill of the Chase: a memoir.

(1922-2015) Longtime public school teacher in Albuquerque who also taught science statewide via a show on KNME-TV; it is estimated that "Dr. George" taught science to one quarter of New Mexicans. Went on to serve for three years as a very popular weatherman on an Albuquerque station; he proved so popular that a competing station sent tapes of his weathercast to stations nationwide, hoping he might get hired out of the Albuquerque market. (1930-2014) AKA: Ted Flicker. Playwright, theatrical producer, television and film director, actor, television writer, screenwriter, and sculptor. Worked on numerous film and TV productions 1964-1981. Author of the novel The Good American. Subject of the documentary film Ted Flicker: A Life in Three Acts.

Villanueva. Served as director of the Center for the Study of Northern New Mexico and the Greater Southwest at New Mexico Highlands University. Co-editor (with wife Shirley Cushing Flint) of several books on Southwest history; author of No Settlement, No Conquest : a history of the Coronado Entrada and Great Cruelties Have Been Reported : the 1544 investigation of the Coronado Expedition.

Villanueva. Independent historian. (1902-1979) Theodore Thomas Flynn. Pulp and Western writer. Moved to New Mexico in 1928, living in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Best known for The Man from Laramie which book was also made into a movie.

(1883-1969) Journalist and photographer. Cowboyed on ranches around the Southwest, including in New Mexico. Credited with taking the first photograph of Shiprock. Author of several works including The Snake Dance of the Hopi Indians and Missions and Pueblos of the Old Southwest, their myths, legends, fiestas, and ceremonies, with some accounts of the Indian tribes and their dances, and of the Ṕenitentes.

(1877-1955) Roswell. Area historian; served as professor of History and head of the English Department at the New Mexico Military Institute. Author/editor of numerous books on area history including Roswell in its Early Years and Pat F. Garrett's Authentic life of Billy the Kid and History of the Lincoln County War. Edited the writings of Theodore Roosevelt, and editor of two volumes of Josiah Gregg's diary and letters of Paul Horgan. The Maurice Garland Fulton Collection of New Mexicana is maintained in the Special Collections of the Albuquerque / Bernalillo County Library.

(1930-2014) Fairacres New Mexico. Attended high school in Las Cruces; degree from New Mexico State University. Worked at the El Paso Times for over three decades, becoming the first female editor of that publication. After retiring from the paper, taught at New Mexico State University and wrote editorials for the Las Cruces Sun-News. Author of The Caregivers: El Paso's medical history, 1898-1998.
