(1945-2017) Albuquerque. Professor emeritus in the Department of Art & Art History at the University of New Mexico. Internationally recognized photographer also working in collages and mixed media, exhibitions in museums worldwide, images utilized in numerous publications and films. Contributor to New Mexico Historical Review. Photographer on many works including Nuclear Enchantment and Buried Cars with Joseph Traugott. Author of the novel The Race: Tales in Flight.

Born and raised in northern New Mexico; resident of Albuquerque East Mountains area. Author of numerous short stories for national magazines. Author of numerous fantasy works, including the Immortal series and the Blood of the Kindred series. Also writes as P.G. Nagle.

Pen name of Albuquerque East Mountains author Pati Nagle. Under this name has written a number of books about the Civil War in New Mexico and the Southwest: Glorieta Pass, The Guns of Valverde, Galveston, and Red River.

Santa Clara Pueblo. Sociologist, Ph.D. from University of New Mexico. Has served as consultant to museums, language programs, and various agencies engaged in language and cultural preservation. Co-Director of the Northern Pueblos Institute from 2005-2010; vice president of the board of the Indigenous Languages Institute. (1887-1970) Schoolteacher from Wisconsin who joined the Indian Service and ended up in the Four Corners area. She and her husband operated a trading post south of Shiprock, after which she moved to Albuquerque. Influential in establishing the Museum of Navaho Ceremonial Art in Santa Fe. Writer of articles for periodicals including New Mexico magazine, primarily sympathetic views of Navajo life and spiritual practices. Collector of folk tales; wrote poetry based upon Navajo materials. Author of several books including Sandpaintings of the Navajo Shooting Chant and Hosteen Klah : Navaho Medicine Man and Sandpainter and Navaho Neighbors.

Professor Emerita of Dance at the University of New Mexico, where she also served as Associate Dean for Research in the College of Fine Arts. Author of a biography of dancer teacher and choreographer Mary Wigman.

Ribera New Mexico. Artist whose collages have been exhibited extensively in the US, Mexico, and South America. Has written artist profiles for the Santa Fe New Mexican; published four books on Native American studies for the Center for Applied Research in Education. Author of New Mexico Artists at Work.

Ph.D. from Wayne State University. Teacher of Technical & Professional Communication (TPC). Taught at New Mexico Tech then at UNM where she serves as Assistant Chair for Core Writing and TPC Program Coordinator. Author of The Pluralist Imagination from East to West in American Literature which includes examination of the writings of D.H. Lawrence, Willa Cather, and Mabel Dodge Luhan.

(1921-2014) Navajo, born in Chi Chil Tah New Mexico. Enlisted in 1942 and became a Navajo Code Talker. Served in the Pacific during WWII and in Korea. Co-author (with Judith Avila) of Code Talker : the first and only memoir by one of the original Navajo code talkers of WWII.

(1853-?) AKA: Mrs. Bowyer. Englishwoman from a wealthy family who arrived in New Mexico's Mesilla Valley in 1896 and stayed on to run a small ranch. Author of several romance novels set in the area and Observations of a Ranch Woman in New Mexico.

Splits his time between Maine and Santa Fe. Works in numerous regional and national publications including Esquire. Winner of several writing awards. Author of the story collection Slow Monkeys and several novels including Hull Creek and Blue Summer.

Taos novelist and essayist, best known for "The New Mexico Trilogy": The Milagro Beanfield War; The Magic Journey; and The Nirvana Blues, all of them presenting a uniquely New Mexico storyscape; The Milagro Beanfield War was made into a movie of the same title, directed by Robert Redford and filmed in New Mexico. Author and photographer on The Last Beautiful Days of Autumn, a paean to New Mexico. Author of I Got Mine : Confessions of a Midlist Writer.

Silver City. Artist. Author of Secrets of the Blue Door: A true story of bringing closure to sexual abuse at a ranch for boys detailing his involvement in exposing sexual abuse by a priest at a boy's ranch in New Mexico.

Aztec. Retired National Park Service Ranger. Writes a blog on travel. Author of a book for young people, The Dreaded Cliff.

Master Gardener and Certified Arborist. Reporter and columnist for Albuquerque periodicals; wrote the Q&A column for the Albuquerque Tribune from the 1970 through the 1980s, and a gardening column. Author of Enchanted Gardening : gardening in the Land of Enchantment and Atrisco to Zena Lona : a snappy survey of Albuquerque street names.

Alamogordo. Author of the poetry collection Under the Mistletoe and the children's book Sleepyhead & His Adventures.

(1941-2019) Santa Fe. Served as writer-in-residence at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos. Freelance copy-writer specializing in direct mail marketing. Co-author of Ballet Class Perspectives: For Adult Beginning Students.

Raton. Journalist and photographer. Author/editor of numerous works about life in New Mexico, including New Mexico : an explorer's guide and New Mexico's tasty traditions : recollections, recipes and photos and Return to Abo: a novel of the Southwest.

(1937-2016) Santa Fe. Photographer, author of several books including Desert Wetlands and New Mexico: Images of a Land and Its People and The People: Pueblo Portraits and Africa, The Holocausts of Rwanda and Sudan which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Of a Bernalillo family. Degrees from UCLA, then taught at NMSU where he received an Outstanding Faculty Award in 2000. Associate Professor at Indiana University, in the Departments of History and Latino Studies. Author / editor of several books on Latino history, including The Language of Blood : the making of Spanish-American identity in New Mexico, 1880s-1930s.

Santa Fe. Illustrator, audio producer, game warden, editor, park ranger. Widely travelled. Co-author/photographer of By the way-- : a guide to New Mexico's 25 scenic byways.

Grew up in Albuquerque. Formerly with the rock band, The Electra. Founder of the Calvary Chapel Education Association. Television and radio host; produced and directed a documentary series on Albuquerque's Pimentel and Sons guitar makers. (1922-2005) Photographer. Instructor in art and art history at UNM. First photography curator at the New Mexico Museum of Art. Recipient of numerous grants including from the National Endowment for the Arts. Author of A Dance with Death : Soviet airwomen in World War II. Subject of Flight of Spirit: The Photographs of Anne Noggle.

Placitas. Archaeologist, technical writer. Recipient of a 2018 Governor's Preservation Honor Award for work at Casa Grande Ruins and Montezuma Castle while with the National Park Service. Author / co-author of several works including Mesa Verde Ancient Architecture.

AKA: Bobbi Salinas. (1943-2013) Santa Fe. Chicana activist, bilingual teacher, author, publisher and artist. Author of bilingual books for children and works about Indo-Hispanic folk art traditions, including Los Tres Cerdos: Nacho, Tito and Miguel and La Cenicienta Latina and Folk Art Traditions.

(1924-2014) Moved to Santa Fe in 1964. Taught at the College of Santa Fe and UNM, and later was a program director for the New Mexico Arts Division's Artists in the Schools program. Author of several books on Native American history including Los Comanches : the horse people, 1751-1845; author of several books of poetry including Beyond the Mountains, Beyond the Mountains.

Hillsboro, of an original ranch family there and member of the Hillsboro Historical Society. Co-author, with Harley Shaw, Craig Springer, and twin sister Matti Nunn-Harrison, of Around Hillsboro for the Images of America series.

Ph.D. from UNM. Served as director and chief curator of the Visual Arts Program at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Curator of numerous exhibits on New Mexico Hispanic artists. Albuquerque. Award-winning literary translator specializing in Scandinavian languages. Translator on numerous popular titles including works by Peter Hoeg, Singrid Undset, Karin Fossum, and Henning Mankell.

Hillsboro, of an original ranch family there. Co-author, with other members of the Hillsboro Historical Society, of Around Hillsboro for the Images of America series.

Son of anthropologist and photographer Jesse Nusbaum. Archaeologist. Author of Deric with the Indians, AKA Deric in Mesa Verde. Later wrote as Deric O'Bryan.

AKA: Rosemary Rife, Rosemary Lewis Rife, Rosemary Lewis Nusbaum. (1907-1990) Santa Fe. Nurse and artist. Spouse of Jesse Nusbaum. Author of numerous short stories and poems that appeared in publications including The Santa Fean and The New Mexican and The Denver Post. Also wrote song lyrics. Author of The City Different and the Palace: The Palace of the Governors, Its Role in Santa Fe History, including Jesse Nusbaum's Restoration Journals and Tierra Dulce: Reminiscences from the Jesse Nusbaum Papers.

AKA: Val Nye. Santa Fe. Has served as Library Director at Santa Fe Community College. Involved with the American Library Association and the New Mexico Library Foundation.
