(1890-1984) Came to Albuquerque in 1918. Became head of the Music Dept. at UNM, then in 1932 helped begin the Albuquerque Civic Symphony, one of the first women in the nation to serve as director and conductor of a major symphony orchestra. She served as conductor of what would become the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra until 1941. Noted music educator; collected Native American and Hispanic songs and lectured on them. Recipient of the first Governor's Award for support of the Arts, in 1974.

Made a "whistle stop" in Albuquerque in 1931.

On Central Avenue east of Downtown. Built in 1941 as a movie theater; in the 80s started functioning as a venue for live music performances hosting an impressive array of musical groups.

(Sometimes recorded as Enchant-o-Rama, Enchantarama). Name given to the event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of Albuquerque, July 4-14th 1956. Much promoted, with tie-ins by the Fred Harvey Company which featured special trains to the event, it included a visit from the Duke & Duchess of Alburquerque and other dignitaries including the Secretary of the Air Force. A pageant, entitled "Tom Toms to Atoms" and designed by a New York theatrical company, performed nightly on a seven-level block-long stage across the athletic field at the University of New Mexico; the production involved almost 2,000 actors presenting events in area history.

AKA: Hope's Corner, Hope's European Hotel, Sturges European Hotel. Albuquerque's first hotel, on the corner of Railroad Avenue (now Central Avenue) and First Street. James G. Hope sold the hotel to Frank E. Sturges in 1893; it operated as the Sturges European Hotel until torn down in 1956.
