Enchantorama(Sometimes recorded as Enchant-o-Rama, Enchantarama). Name given to the event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of Albuquerque, July 4-14th 1956. Much promoted, with tie-ins by the Fred Harvey Company which featured special trains to the event, it included a visit from the Duke & Duchess of Alburquerque and other dignitaries including the Secretary of the Air Force. A pageant, entitled "Tom Toms to Atoms" and designed by a New York theatrical company, performed nightly on a seven-level block-long stage across the athletic field at the University of New Mexico; the production involved almost 2,000 actors presenting events in area history.
