Public Art @ the Libraries

Juan Tabo is home to a beautiful mural created by the Mayor's Art Institute. A testament to the rich oral and written traditions of New Mexico, "Once Upon a Storytime" honors New Mexico's storytellers in a whimsical and meaningful way. Woven into the mural is imagery from more than 20 New Mexican Authors including: Rudolfo Anaya, Luci Tapahonso, Paul Horgan, Fray Angelico Chavez, Simon Ortiz, Paula Gunn Allen, Pat Mora, Ernie Pyle, Denise Chavez, and Hakim Bellamy. The mural celebrates the common themes of these authors such as landscape, rain storms, plants and animals. The mural also contains text from a poem by Albuquerque Poet Laureate Hakim Bellamy.
