 Career Online High School (COHS) is an online high school diploma and career certification program available through the Public Library. This program offers free enrollment to a limited number of qualified adult students. Career Online High School through the Public Library of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County is open to residents of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County who are at least 19-years-old, have successfully completed 8th grade, and wish to earn their high school diploma. Applicants who successfully complete an online self-assessment and prerequisite course, followed by an in-person interview, will be considered for enrollment. Program applicants must have a library card in good standing or be willing to apply for a library card. 

Every Child Ready to Read

Every Child Ready to Read Research shows that children get ready to read years before they start school. Every Child Ready to Read® is an early childhood literacy program developed by the American Library Association. Summer Reading Program

Every summer the Public Library encourages our community to join the Summer Reading Program, the annual celebration of reading for pleasure (and reading for prizes!). Kids, teens and adults can all sign up for the summer reading program, attend a variety of events, and enter to win fabulous prizes. Details available here! Summer Reading Program.

Virtual Baby Shower

Join us twice a year, every Spring and Fall, for our Community Baby Shower! This free community info fair features representatives from health, social service, and cultural agencies that have a focus on the health and well-being of young families. 

Thomason Transportation Fund

The Thomason Transportation Program provides free round-trip transportation for students, faculty and chaperones from Title I schools and daycares/preschools serving low-income families in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, allowing them to visit library branches, participate in programs and events offered by the Public Library, visit the Center for the Book and more.

Beginning Birding Kits

Beginning Birding Kits: You can begin your birding adventure by checking out a Beginning Birding Kit from the Public  Library! Use your library card to check out binoculars, along with birding guides and resources. The Beginning Birding Kits are provided through partnership with the City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Open Space Division, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation. Please note: Birding Kits are considered non-traditional itemsCustomers can only check out 1 non-traditional item at a time.

Museum Discovery Pass Program

The Public Library is pleased to offer local museum family passes for check-out. This program is designed to engage adults, children and families in art, history, science, technology and literacy learning. Ukulele Lending Program

Ukulele Lending Program: Have you ever wanted to learn to play the ukulele but didn't know where to start? Uke can do it at the Juan Tabo Library! Use your library card to check out a ukulele along with an instructional DVD, a string tuner, and song books.
