Summer Reading

Tweens! Start by Signing Up!

How to Participate

It's easy! Just sign up and READ!

1. Sign up and get a Reading Log. Signing up is easy! All we need is your first name, last name, and age. You can print a Reading Log when you use our easy online sign up portal (here), or you can pick up an already-printed Reading Log from a City of Albuquerque Meal Site or from one of our Public Library Branches once we're back open for business.

2. Keep track of the time you spend reading on your Reading Log. For every hour you read, whatever kind of reading you like to do, mark off one magic lamp symbol. If you fill up your whole Reading Log and would like another, you can ask for one at one of our Library Branch locations once we've re-opened.

3. There won't be any weekly prizes given this year, but here's how you can still earn a prize: When you have all of your magic lamp symbols marked off (remember, it's one lamp for each hour you've read) bring your Reading Log to your local branch of The Public Library (once we've re-opened, of course!) and turn it in. We'll then give you an entry form for a special prize drawing at the branch just for Tweens, age 9-12.

4. Almost any kind of reading you'd like to do this summer counts! Books? Great! Graphic Novels or Manga? Awesome! Magazines? Super! Audiobooks or e-books downloaded and read or listened to on a digital device? Fantastic! What doesn't count? Just a few things: Texting, tweeting, or other activity on any social media platforms.
