Building Use Rules
Welcome to the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library System. While visiting us, please remember to treat the building, other customers and the staff with respect.
As a show of respect to others and to keep the buildings safe, clean and inviting, the following activities are not allowed:
- Eating or Drinking, except bottled water.
- Smoking, including eCigs, Vapor, or any tobacco products.
- Noisy, unruly or other offensive behavior. Loud conversations, including on cell phones, or disruptive ring tones.
- Leaving belongings unattended. All belongings must be of a size that would comfortably fit under a standard chair.
- Harassment—physical, sexual or verbal abuse of customers or staff.
- Abuse, destruction or theft of Library materials, facilities or equipment.
- Intoxicated behavior and/or possession of alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Sleeping, lying on the floor or the appearance of sleeping.
- Bathing, washing clothes, shaving or cutting hair.
- Wearing skates, cleats, other inappropriate attire or not fully clothed.
- Damaging, misusing or moving furniture.
- Selling, panhandling or begging. Soliciting inside the building.
- Excessive body odor or unclean clothing.
- Abandoning, neglecting or leaving young children unattended.
- Engaging in any activity in violation of federal, state, or local laws.
- Skateboarding or other activities that may damage Library property.
- Refusing to follow the reasonable directions of authorized staff.
The Following may not be brought into the Library:
- Food or Drink
- Oversized bags, backpacks, suitcases or other containers
- Pets (except service animals)
- Bicycles
- Deadly weapons unless specifically authorized by law
Any person found to be in violation of one or more of the above rules may be asked to leave by Library staff and could be banned from future library use. These behavior rules apply to all buildings and all grounds controlled and operated by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Library.
We reserve the right to inspect all bags, backpacks, suitcases or briefcases for concealed library material.
Attendance at Library programs and events constitutes consent to be photographed for publicity purposes. Names of individuals will not be used in photo captions.
The ABQ-BernCo Library is not responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen, or damaged on any ABQ-BernCo Library premises.
