Book Trailer Contest

2019 Teen Book Trailer Contest

In celebration of the American Library Association’s Teen Tech Week (March 3-9, 2019) The Public Library ABQ-BernCo is offering a Book Trailer Contest! Book Trailers are similar to movie trailers, (a.k.a. previews) but they promote books instead of films. Book Trailers are made to encourage people to read a particular book or novel. They usually give an audience a sense of what a book is about without giving away too many details so the audience will want to read the book to find out what happens. A Book Trailer is NOT a book review or a book report.

Who Can Enter the Book Trailer Contest?

Any individual Tween or Teen or group of Tweens or Teens entering as a team (4 maximum) ages 11-19. Teens ages 11-17 must have written permission from a parent or legal guardian on their entry form. Every team must have at least one member 13 years of age or older at the time of trailer video submission.

How Do I Enter the Book Trailer Contest?

  • Create an original video promoting a specific book. One entry per individual is allowed, unless that individual is also part of a team. In this case, one individual entry and one team entry per person is allowed. All team members must be between the ages of 11 and 19.
  • Print and submit a Teen Book Trailer Contest entry form, with signed parental permission for participants under age 18, must be submitted to any Public Library ABQ-BernCo branch by Friday, February 15, 2019. Any trailer video submitted without an entry form by the entry form deadline will be disqualified from the contest.
  • Video entries must be uploaded to YouTube and tagged with: ABQ-BernCo Library, Teen Book Trailer Contest, and the Title of Your Book. The URL of the video must be submitted online at https://abqlibrary.org/booktrailercontest between 12:01 am Tuesday, February 12, 2019 and 11:59 pm Thursday, February 21, 2019.
