- Albuquerque to Encourage 'Little Free Libraries' in CityAlbuquerque first lady Elizabeth Kistin Keller said the city is excited to work on a project that expands little free libraries. “For years, we’ve been fortunate to have community members build their own Little Free Libraries,” she said. “Over the last few months, in particular, we’ve seen how they can maintain a love of reading in kids when schools and libraries are closed and serve as a powerful way for communities to connect and share with each other from a distance during the coronavirus pandemic.”

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
Bernalillo County Cultural Services worked with the University of New Mexico School of Architecture to design and construct five little free libraries to promote literacy, as well as inspiring others to build little free libraries in their own communities.
Little Free Libraries are small structures, containing 20 - 30 books, that are located in communities nationwide. Bernalillo County has one Little Free Library in each commission district.
