Can I use adults or other people not on my team as actors in my trailer?
Yes, people outside of your team may be used as actors. Actors must be informed that as part of contest rules that ABQ-BernCo Library may publish the video trailer with their likeness and may use both in future advertisement campaigns and/or marketing materials that may be on the web, in an article, in a press release or other medium announcing the winning entries or describing the contest.
Can I submit my trailer before I have turned in my entry form?
No. Entry forms must be returned to a library branch before any video entries can be submitted. Video entries cannot be submitted before February 12, but you may upload them to YouTube before that date.
I am only 12 and could not compete before / Are "Tweens" able to participate in the contest?
We're excited to be able to extend competition to 11- and 12-year-olds! YouTube requires that users be at least age 13, so participants under that age must submit post their video using the account of a parent, teacher, or other legal guardian. Remember that videos submitted by 11- and 12-year-olds will not be judged in the Audience Favorite category. Also, a team cannot be composed of only 11- and 12-year-olds (there must be at least one member age 13 or older).
How do I submit my video URL?
Video submission begins February 12 and ends at 11:59 pm on February 21, 2019. During that period, enter the share URL from YouTube in the entry box on the Overview tab of this guide, along with your name(s) and an email address. You can upload to YouTube anytime you want before submitting the URL. Entry forms (with your parent's signature if you are 11 - 17 years old) must be turned in to a library branch by February 15.
What is the Audience Favorite category?
Following the submission period, videos will be posted online so that friends, family, and other Public Library customers can vote on their favorite video! Share the URL abqlibrary.org/booktrailercontest/2019 and watch the videos posted, then vote for one between February 22 and February 25. Remember that videos submitted by 11- and 12-year-olds will not be judged in the Audience Favorite category.
How do I notify the Public Library that I am planning on creating a trailer for a book not in the library catalog?
In the form to the right, please write out the author and title of the book you are planning to create a trailer to promote. We'll make our best effort to obtain a copy of the book, but there are certain limits to what we can purchase and some books are published in electronic format only and not available to libraries (e.g., Kindle-only editions).
