eResources

The Public Library provides eResources -- eAudiobooks, eBooks, eVideos, eMagazines -- from several different vendors. With a device or computer you can download directly from the catalog with a valid library card and PIN. The majority of our eContent is integrated into the library catalog but to find the most current available items it is best to search through the vendor website.

Searching for eBooks & eAudiobooks

Use the search box or advanced search to look for books by keyword, author, or title. Restrict your results to eBooks or eAudiobooks by using the View Entire Collection filter to the right of the search field. Materials available as eContent appear in search results with the text/link Access Additional Electronic Resources and will direct users to the provider of the resource. Pictured below is a search for an eBook resource available through both Hoopla and Overdrive.

Checking Out & Formats

Once you find the eBook or eAudiobook that you would like to check out or reserve, go to the provider website. All of the provider platforms are slightly different, but in each users will have the option to checkout if the resources is available and to place a hold if there are others waiting for the resource. Check out our Digital Media page for support with checking out, apps available for computers and devices, and recommending titles. Each site will require authentication with library card and PIN.

Formats of eContent will also vary by provider. Several offer checkout in different formats depending on device and user preference for reading or listening. Overdrive allows users to place holds and be notified when available, as well as automatically (optional) check out the resource once available. For more help on devices and various providers, visit Digital Media support page or email our staff. Holds placed with Overdrive will ask you to enter/confirm an email address for hold notifications.

Many providers have a proprietary app used to read and protect copyrighted content. OverDrive is best accessed using their app named Libby, and freegal offers an app for listening to music. Visit our Mobile Apps page for downloads of this software and for support.
