The New York Public Library and other libraries around the country are encouraging people everywhere to share the books they're reading on social media, joined together with the hashtag #ReadersUnite.
As we turn the page on 2016 and embark on exciting new chapters in 2017, a nationwide social media movement is afoot! Led by the New York Public Library (NYPL) has started a movement to highlight the power of books to show that reading truly does build knowledge, understanding, and empathy – a few things we all need right now.
Starting today and extending throughout the month of January, we encourage all library lovers and voracious readers to share what books they’re currently reading (or listening to) by sharing via social media with the hashtag #ReadersUnite. The aim of the campaign is to bring readers everywhere together to share ideas and information freely.
Please take one minute to share how important reading is. Post a photo or title of the book you're reading today to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms with the hashtag #ReadersUnite.
Be sure to keep up with what others are reading by following the hashtag. Now let’s all come together through the power of books!
